Hello,
The Green Heron is one of my favorite herons, I am always happy to see one during my walks and outings.
The Green Heron is a small heron, with a green-black cap, greenish back and wings and a chestnut neck.
Their bill is dark and long with a sharp point.
These are photos taken at the Circle B Bar Reserve in Florida, but I do see this bird in Maryland during the summer months. I hope you enjoyed my photos.
Thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.
My list of memes for today, I hope to see you there. Thanks to both of the host below.

Lovely photos of the green heron!
ReplyDeleteOh, he is such a beauty!! We see them occasionally here and I am always struck by their gorgeous plumage. Hope you have a wonderful week!!
ReplyDeleteGood day Eileen, he is lovely. I do so enjoy learning about different birds and animals. It makes it so much more exciting if I ever see one and I know just what it is. It's like finding a treasure that you don't get to keep. Hmm, if that makes any sense. Ha! Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteWe have the green herons here too, and they are my favourite herons as well. You got some beautiful photos of him, and you can really see his green colour in the feathers on his back. Have a great day :)

That Green Heron is gorgeous . Beautiful captures .
ReplyDeleteI've only seen the Blue Heron out on the cranberry bogs here .
I must check and see if Green Heron are only native to certain areas .
Hello,
ReplyDeleteThe Green Heron is so beautiful, and very pretty photos!
Happy Monday, and enjoy your week ahead!
Do you know Eileen I think that is a gorgious little bird, I've always called it The Little Green Heron. I remember filming and photographing one down at the Palm visitor centre down in the everglades.
ReplyDeleteTake care, and thank you, Gordon.
This is a beautiful bird and not one that I usually see here.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful heron, and I like the cedar waxwing on your sidebar too. I love seeing the photos of birds I never see around here. Have a pleasant day.

ReplyDeleteI found a Picasa download, Eileen--saved for another few years--whew! I really like Picasa's format and don't know why Google thought Google photos was better, It is not as user friendly for editing. Thanks for your help!

ReplyDeletePS...the vehicle ferries at Port A ARE small, 'cause they only have to cross the ship channel. They don't go out in the bay or large bodies of water. Only about a couple of minutes to cross either way.
Beautiful coloring on the heron. Great captures.
ReplyDeleteYou really found a good model. Great pictures.
ReplyDeleteYour first photo has so much character.

ReplyDeleteI hope you will come share your photos at http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2017/06/tidying-up-nest.html. The linkup is open all week, every week. Photographers welcome!
If they migrate this far north in summer, they tend to stick to the countryside. Here in the city we do see the blue herons in rivers or the canal.
ReplyDeleteYour green Heron is quite unique, Eileen. He has odd feathers, and yellowish looking eyes. He almost looks like a little grouch, but very striking. I had a visit by two yellow-crowned night Herons last week, and did get some pictures. One of them got scared and flew away, but the other one enjoyed my attention. I hope to write a post soon and share some photos! I was so excited! Have a great day, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteHe's beautiful..love the coloring..great shots!!
ReplyDeleteSuper, super pictures Eileen. It's a long time since I saw one and I'm ready for another.
ReplyDeleteThe heron is a stunning bird, great photos....
